Valentines Day 2014

I think I've had one of the best valentines days ever this year for the fact that I know my "valentine" celebrating partner will stay with me forever! As I am single this year, I was invited out for dinner with Crystal and her girl friends. Oh how I missed socializing and having a nice chat and laugh over dinner!

We chose korean barbeque at a restaurant called "Mr. Korea BBQ" in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The meal was delicious and I had finally gotten over my concern for calories whilst dining out as all the chatting and laughing took my attention away :)

Crystal got us all a rose each! I was so touched as I was just envying all the girls on the streets showing off theirs! It's always the thought that counts and Crystal definitely knows how much I love roses.

I also lost my Lab Made virginity!! I totally understand the hype of this store now! Their ice-creams taste just like what it's supposed to - very true to flavour. Crystal and I shared a matcha milk flavour. It was a lovely end to the evening. Hope everyone had a sweet and wonderful valentines day too with your loved ones

Edible Craftings: Baby Donald Duck Macarons!

I know a lot of people really enjoy my edible craftings blog posts. I have quite a few macarons and cakes and cupcakes I've made in the past half year I haven't posted yet. So here's one to get me started with these posts again.

These took me forever to make and required a lot of effort and concentration - but are definitely worth it. I am aware that my icing could be a little more smoother but that's what makes it all so homemade right?!

I love how there's so many little poses my baby Donalds are making! I would surely cry if I received these as a gift!

And here's a picture of all of my baby Donalds that came in one batch! Hope you enjoyed these pictures and feel free to comment on this post telling me which is your favourite Donald pose!

Picnic time!

I've always loved the thought of a picnic; sunshine, grass, red and white checkered blanket, fresh fruits, sandwiches, chatting with friends and family. It wasn't until recently that I realised I have never had a proper picnic! When I was young, I used to take my sandwich out in the garden with my sister to play 'picnic', but I had never had a real picnic. So, I decided to date my friend (more like a sister), Crystal, for a picnic!

As I had no idea where we could go, Crystal chose on Tamar Park near Admiralty. The weather was not great - cold and slightly windy but we still had lots of fun together; eating, chatting, laughing, chilling.

We were so excited! I felt like I had reunited with grass!haha

I prepared the food and I just wanted to keep it fresh and simple. We had ham and cheese sandwiches, for Crystal, and tomato, onion and avocado sandwiches for myself. Also, crackers, grapes, strawberries and caramel cupcakes that I made earlier that week. Oh and also featuring Pret A Manger's skimmed rose tea latte!

Of course, we took a lot of pictures! Well that's what girls do on a picnic! We also filmed two tag videos! As I am an awful video editor, Crystal will kindly upload the video!

Bangkok Christmas Trip 2013 - Day 4 & 5

I had been looking forward to day 4 for the whole trip. We were heading off to Chatuchak (JJ) market!!! WOOHOO!! This was a market full of affordable goods - pottery, clothes, foods and even pets!
First, we had to fuel up!! This was my typical holiday breakfast.

We arrived at Mo Chit BTS. It was crazy! There were so many people - we looked down to the streets and it was packed!

But then, we hadn't realized that it was still early. A later picture will show your what "packed" really means!
I've just realised that I didn't take many pictures of the market because I was vlogging more. So you'd have to watch the vlog (below) to get a feel of the market!

However, it wouldn't be me if I didn't take a picture of my food. First, it was coconut ice-cream - well, and second (we had it twice because it was that good!!)

Coconut ice-cream served in coconut shells.
Toppings! I believe it's sweetcorn, nata coco and I can't remember the rest - oops!

We tried another store because we saw a long queue - that had to mean it was better!!! (and it was!)
We had free coconut juice with it too.
Next, we tried the famous Choconana, which is essentially frozen banana dipped in chocolate, something I could make at home. It wasn't anything surprising.

I chose peanut.
I bought some tiered cake plates for my baking and some mini bits and bobs. We only survived 2 hours in the market as it was so hot and sweaty and jam-packed with people. However, that was well enough! my friend and I were really good shoppers - we knew what we wanted and went to search for those things.

Now, THIS is what we call PACKED with people.
We quickly went back to our hotel to drop off our shopping and then we went back out to Let's Relax Spa to enjoy a two hour thai massage! I requested for a hot herbal compress with my thai massage for an extra 200baht - it was well worth it!

Clean feet for the massage!

As it was out last full day in Bangkok, we were very happy to try new things! We went to the food court to try Durian sticky rice. It sure did leave us smelly for quite a while!

After, we went for a last little walk around Terminal 21 and then headed to Siam to check our the Siam Paragon food court. I had a red seafood curry with rice. My friend had tom yum noodles. It was so-so only. But kind of cool that we were eating in front of a fish tank (not pictured).

As our last night in Bangkok, we had a walk around and I snapped some pictures of interesting things.

Hello Kitty bow on top of the McDonald's sign!
I'm such a creeper but we saw him on the BTS platforms everyday - so handsome!!!
And of course, like every other holiday, our last night was dominated with packing up! There's not much to update from then on. I would just like to say, I LOVE BANGKOK! I shall be back!!hehe

Bought some souvenirs for my grandparents (and one for myself) at the airport! Mango sticky rice!!!! I loved it!
I HAD to post this - it was the most delicious plane food ever! Chicken and rice, salad, bun and a coffee dessert! I couldn't stop eating it. Well Done Thai Airways!
xx

Bangkok Christmas Trip 2014 - Day 3

Day 3 was a relaxing one. We started the day with a Full Spirit spa package at Let's Relax Spa.This package includes a body scrub, body wrap, aroma oil massage and foot reflexology. I tried this package last time I visited Bangkok and I totally fell in love with it!

Before we started the package, we were given a range of body scrubs and massage oils to choose from! My friend and I both chose coffee scrub and green tea oil. The different scrubs had served for different purposes. Coffee was for firming, orange was for whitening, honey was for dry skin, and I can't remember the other choices but they were for sensitive skin, oily skin etc.

After our spa package!! I was so relaxed!!
One reason why I love this package so much?! Complimentary mango sticky rice and tea afterwards!

This package was around 2700Baht for 2 hours 45 mins which is good value for money I think!

Auntie Anne's Cheesey Pretzels
Shh! But I was still up for food after the mango sticky rice so we stopped by Auntie Anne's for cheese and ham pretzel bites! These were alright - not amazing though.
We then went to try out the much raved about Hainanese chicken rice near Platinum mall.

Hainanese Chicken Rice - DELICIOUS!
Pork neck - my friend's favorite!
I totally understand the rave! We ordered one chicken rice to share and it was clearly not enough, but we were planning to have a second dinner later. The spicy sauce that came with it made it very tasty! Be sure to eat at the hainanese chicken rice with the pink shirt waitresses!

And I've realised just now that this blog post is going to be full of food pictures - oh well who doesn't love food?!
Here's a dessert my friend introduced to me in the Platinum Mall food court. To be honest I was really not keen on it. But oh my oh my! It was yum! I think the pink balls are water chestnut tapioca balls?

Dinner no.2 was next and I was sure to go to Food Loft foodcourt in Central World! I love their tom yum!!
A very clean and delicious food court! - Food Loft.
Tomyum noodles, red curry and rice.
It was already late, but we were keen to see the Bangkok skyline at night. We went to Cloud47 bar afterwards. One reason why we chose Cloud47 was because it was apparently the most affordable rooftop bar in Bangkok. We were all about being affordable in our trip as my friend is still a student!

Cloud47
We didn't even want to stay on our seats as the view was so mesmerizing. I was totally sucked in. The live band was nice and we saw a lot of locals as well as tourists.
It was such a nice end to the day. When we got back to our hotel, we had a surprise waiting for us! Thank you Doubletree for sending us a fruit basket!hehe - I love fruits!
